You really can become the "Eye of the Storm" in your clinic or hospital day when you know how to use your breathing to recenter in a place that is deeper and wider than all the busy-ness that surrounds being a doctor these days.

The inspiration for this guided meditation is a chapter in Jon Kabat-Zinn's book "Wherever You Go, There You Are". Jon is the father of Mindfulness Based Stress Relief in healthcare and the former Executive Director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

In the book he uses two meditations to connect you with the calm and unshakable place we each carry in our core. One meditation is on the unmovable nature of "The Mountain".

My favorite is this one, "The Lake". You can hit a lake with a hammer all you want ... all you get is a rusty hammer. Your favorite lake is the perfect image and metaphor for the calm, deep, unflappable place inside of you that never gets bent out of shape.

All you need is a way to connect with your Lake Essence quickly and simply at work

I created a guided meditation where you
- relax, calm and destress
- then experience becoming your favorite lake and notice the quiet center of your Lake Essence

Even the most violent storm can only ripple your very surface. The recording is only 13 minutes long. It gives you a way to use a single breath to connect with your Lake Essence during your work day AND when you would like to be present with your family and loved ones.


This imagery is a Free MP3 download to your computer. It can then be uploaded to your cell phone or other mobile device so you can listen whereever and whenever you wish. If you don't know how to do this and have teenage children, they would be happy to show you how ;-)
