# STOP #PhysicianBurnout Narrative Medicine A Poem

> ## > Seeking the Sacred Space <
>
> ~ Dike Drummond MD
>
> To return to your path
> you must step off the treadmill
> of expectation, quota, metric
> that drives you heartsick
> and plumps the master's spreadsheet cells.
>
> Find that track to the space
> between the lines
> that you can call your own.
>
> Close the door.
> Have a seat.
> "How are you today?"
>
> And the symphony begins
> in the sheltered, protected sacred islands
> in the stream of your practice day.
