A Recent survey of Hospitalists reported in the Journal of General Internal Medicine showed 29.9% of respondents with symptomatic physician burnout. Of those reporting physician burnout symptoms, 45.4% said they were somewhat or very likely to leave their practice in the next two years.

Of all factors mentioned, the hospitalists showed the lowest levels of satisfaction with organizational fairness (31.2%), personal time (28.3%), compensation (27.9%), and autonomy (17.4%).
